About the Author

John E. Coleman served as an officer in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and was based in Thailand during the 1950s and 1960s. While visiting Burma (now known as Myanmar), he learned about the vipassana meditation technique from famous Buddhist teacher U Ba Khin, which led him to achieve enlightenment. Later, Coleman started to lead his own ten-day meditation retreats in various places around the globe. He passed away in 2012.
